Ganesha is a remover of obstacles, patron of arts and science, and represents the root chakra, earth, and the physical body.

THE RAT -
Ganesha is often seen with a rat which symbolizes impurity. The rat is seen as destructive and a menace to crops and is there to symbolize Ganesha's ability to overcome darkness both externally and internally.

THE RICE BOWL-
Ganesha is also commonly seen with a bowl of food to symbolize his affinity with base needs.

THE LOTUS-
Ganesha is also commonly seen with a lotus symbolizing wisdom, spiritual perfection, and purity.
